Piripi is a tapas and rice restaurant in Alicante's Ensanche district, open since 1994 and listed in the MICHELIN Guide. The ground floor is a lively tapas bar where you can also eat at the counter, and upstairs there is a carefully kept dining room. The extensive menu covers signature dishes, a wide choice of rice dishes and daily specials, with fish and seafood brought in every day straight from the fish auctions in Dénia and Santa Pola. Reviews most often mention the red prawns, the arròs a banda and other rice dishes, the cod fritters, ensaladilla rusa, artichokes, croquettes and langoustines. It belongs to the Gastronou group, like Nou Manolín, and one guest notes that it is popular with Alicante locals as well as visitors.
Book a table if you want the upstairs dining room, as it is popular with locals too; seats at the ground-floor bar are first come, first served. One guest writes that from the bar you can watch the dishes being sent out up close, and another points out that red prawns are charged by weight, so ask about portion size before ordering.
