Large municipal street market in the Babel district of Alicante, with up to 507 stalls. The stalls are set up in the area bounded by Pardo Gimeno, Asilo and Guillén de Castro streets, next to the covered Mercado de Babel market hall. You'll find fruit and vegetables as well as clothes, shoes and other goods. The market is run by Alicante City Council's Markets Department (Departamento de Mercados). You can also pop into the hall itself: reviewers mention its renovated interior, and one praises the butchers' stalls, a bakery selling bread from Alicante province and the air conditioning in summer.
If Thursday or Saturday is a public holiday, the market is held on the previous working day.
